Nordiska Folkhögskolan (The Nordic Folk High School) is open to students from all Nordic countries and has courses in writing, photography, art, theater, music, filmmaking and general courses.
When the Nordiska Folkhögskolan asked me if I could create their new visual identity and website, I connected with the wonderful Raket Webbyrå to develop and design the web, which gave me the opportunity to give my full focus to the logo and the visual identity.
The client’s requirement was that the logo should depict Hugin and Munin from Norse mythology (where one represents thought and the other memory). In order to pay attention to the history of the Folk High School, a school that was created in 1947 in a spirit of openness and enlightenment after a time of war and closed borders, I chose to make a logotype where the ravens break out of the circle, and also chose a color scale and design language that alludes to the aesthetics of that era.
In addition to a visual identity for the school as a whole, I also created my own identities for the school’s various departments.
