Fortes’ Fauna – exploring animals from within, is a 100-day project I did in 2023–2024.
The book is a collection of various artworks such as drawings, paintings, and experiments. It features a wide range of styles and techniques, including oil paintings, mixed media experiments, collages, aquarelles, ink drawings, and more. These images serve different purposes; some tell stories, some evoke emotions, while others are of a more decorative character. However, what connects them all is that they explore my inner animals – animals that exist only in my imagination.
The book is hand-bound in a coptic binding in order to lay flat when opened, using Fabriano mixed media paper 250gsm.

I used many different materials when creating the images in Fortes’ Fauna. Here is a rabbit painted with gouache. I love the opaque and matte surface you can accomplish with gouache.
